VIVA
"When Time Is the Enemy, Awareness Is an Advantage”
When someone enters cold water, survival time begins shrinking immediately often before rescuers arrive and before the individual realizes what is happening.
Hypothermia is silent, progressive, and frequently underestimated.

BioGlo VIVA™ is a passive, temperature-activated hypothermia exposure risk indicator engineered to provide clear, visual awareness of escalating cold exposure and thus providing the victim clarity on survival strategies and rescuers with clarity on triage priorities.
No batteries.
No electronics.
No interpretation required.

What is VIVA?
VIVA™ is a wearable, time-progressive hypothermia risk indicator designed to visually communicate increasing cold exposure during water immersion or severe cold conditions.
VIVA is deployable across multiple wearable formats, including:
-
PFDs and flotation devices
-
Immersion and survival suits
-
Cold-water apparel and outerwear
-
Children’s safety gear
-
Industrial and marine PPE
VIVA remains inactive during normal conditions.
Upon cold-water immersion or sustained exposure below defined temperature thresholds, the system activates displaying distinct visual zones that correspond to escalating hypothermia risk.

The result:
Immediate, intuitive awareness for the wearer and rescuers helping prioritize response, rescue, and medical intervention.
Why VIVA Exists?
Hypothermia is one of the most misunderstood risks in marine and cold-water environments.

-
People often feel fine before rapid decline begins
-
Cognitive impairment occurs before physical collapse
-
Time-to-unconsciousness is frequently misjudged
-
Rescuers lack visual cues to assess exposure severity
Most safety equipment tells you where someone is - but not how long they’ve been exposed or how urgent the situation has become.

VIVA™ makes invisible risk visible.
How VIVA works?
-
Cold exposure occurs. The wearer enters cold water or a low-temperature environment.
-
Temperature-triggered activation begins. Material-based sensing elements respond to predefined thermal thresholds... no power, no electronics.
-
Progressive visual signaling is displayed.
Color or pattern changes emerge in stages, reflecting escalating hypothermia exposure over time. -
Risk awareness is established. The indicator communicates urgency at a glance for the wearer, bystanders, and rescuers.
Cold exposure becomes visible before it becomes fatal

Long shelf life
-
Designed for marine, aviation, industrial, and consumer safety use
Designed for Real-World Rescue
VIVA™ is built for environments where hypothermia risk determines survival outcomes:

-
Cold-water man-overboard events
-
Sailing, paddling, and fishing in shoulder seasons
-
Aviation ditching in cold regions
-
Children entering cold water
-
Industrial and offshore work zones
The system assumes stress, confusion, and limited self-awareness because hypothermia rarely announces itself clearly.

Awareness, Before It’s Too Late
-
BioGlo VIVA™ does not generate heat.
-
It does not replace rescue.
-
It does not require interpretation.
-
It provides timely awareness so action can happen sooner.
