What is MIRA?

MIRA™ is a fully integrated bioluminescent garment system, designed to deliver autonomous visibility through the clothing itself.

Unlike patches or clip-on lights, MIRA incorporates bioluminescent elements directly into the wearable structure, including:
​
  • Maritime / Nautical attire
  • Immersion suits
  • Survival suits
  • Workwear and foul-weather gear
  • Jackets, vests, and coveralls
  • Aviation and industrial safety apparel
 
MIRA garments remain dormant during storage and normal wear.
 
Upon water contact, pressure, or mechanical activation, the embedded system initiates a sealed BRET-enhanced bioluminescent reaction distributed across the garment.

The result:
The entire garment becomes a glowing beacon, visible from every angle making the wearer clearly detectable to vessels, aircraft, and shoreline responders even in darkness, fog, rain, or heavy seas.

Why MIRA Exists?

In many real-world water environments, most people are not wearing a personal flotation device and therefore have no visibility at all when something goes wrong.


When an unexpected water entry occurs, there is no time to locate, activate, or rely on add-on lighting.

Conventional illumination options and safety lights fail under these conditions:

 

  • Batteries corrode, discharge, or fail in storage

  • Manual activation requires awareness and coordination.

  • LEDs provide narrow, directional visibility.

  • External devices snag, detach, or break

  • For workers, pilots, responders, and offshore personnel, visibility must come from what they are already wearing not from equipment they may never activate.

 

MIRA™ delivers autonomous, full-garment visibility without electronics and without user action.

How MIRA Works?

  1. Immersion or deployment occurs. The wearer enters water or a low-visibility environment.

  2. Engineered water-activated illumination. When garment is fully in the water the embedded system becomes activated... no batteries, no wiring, no electronics.

  3. BRET-enhanced bioluminescence is initiated. Stabilized enzyme–substrate chemistry generates intense blue-green light, spectrally enhanced via BRET for improved detectability.
  4. Light radiates across the garment. Illuminated zones integrated throughout the clothing emit uniform, omnidirectional light detectable from air, sea, and shore.
